The only GNU/GPL licensed code that was used in RAWMagic (the one dealing with the vertical-stripe bug) was taken out of the RAWMagic app and ran as a separate sub-app which fully complied with the GNU/GPL license (even though it made RAWMagic less efficient and slower in the process). Incorrect, but I can see why most people believe that since they only heard the info from ML's side. Thomas was violating the license under which ML code is published and he was the one not willing to comply. Stefan Gofferje wrote:You get it the wrong way around. Here's a video that I shot last year which is almost 100% 5D3 Magic Lantern raw: It all comes down to internal politics and egos, and it's a damn shame because IMHO the footage that I get out of my 5D3 with Magic Lantern raw is right up there with the Arri Alexa. mlv files right into the likes of Premiere and Resolve with no need to convert. I also wish that the Magic Lantern guys would have been more willing to actually start a relationship with companies like Adobe and Blackmagic for native integration of. mlv files and discouraging Thomas from releasing a PC version of his software. Instead, Magic Lantern's reaction was to ban RAWMagic as if it never even existed, depriving a lot of Magic Lantern users of a solid tool for working with. It really is a fantastic app which creates CDNG files that "just work" with audio and all exactly as if they had been generated by any other Blackmagic camera. I really wish that instead of getting into a pissing match, the Magic Lantern guys would have been willing to work with Thomas and RAWMagic. I brought that up on the MLVP thread in the forum a while ago. It doesn't name the wav file according to convention, so Resolve doesn't recognize it as belonging to the DNG sequence.
